A year after winning a multimillion-dollar private jet in a viral YouTube competition hosted by MrBeast, 21-year-old pilot Jabari Stephen Brown, popularly known online as Captain Treezy, has found himself at the center of an international drug trafficking investigation in Paraguay.
Brown gained global attention in December 2025 after winning a Hawker 400XP executive jet valued at approximately $2.4 million during MrBeast’s widely viewed challenge, “100 Pilots Fight For A Private Jet.” His emotional reaction to the victory quickly became one of the most shared moments from the video.
However, authorities in Paraguay recently detained Brown following the seizure of 261.6 kilograms of high-potency marijuana discovered aboard a private Bombardier Challenger 604 aircraft at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport near Asunción.
According to Paraguay’s National Anti-Drug Secretariat (SENAD), anti-narcotics agents intercepted the aircraft while luggage was being unloaded and discovered the suspected drugs concealed inside suitcases. Authorities estimated the shipment’s value at approximately $3.6 million and alleged it was destined for the Brazilian market.
Brown was arrested at a hotel in Asunción on May 31 alongside an ongoing investigation involving three other Americans identified as Marisol Rivas, Troy Anthony Vásquez, and David Thomas Wise. Paraguayan authorities also identified Estonian national Keith Siilats as the aircraft’s owner and pilot. Reports indicate that Siilats departed Paraguay before the operation was carried out and remains under investigation.
Prosecutors Release Brown
In a significant development, Paraguayan prosecutors ordered Brown’s release on June 1 after reviewing flight records and other evidence provided during questioning.
Authorities reportedly concluded that Brown was serving as a contracted co-pilot and that there was insufficient evidence to establish that he had knowledge of the drugs allegedly concealed within passengers’ luggage.
Brown cooperated with investigators, supplied flight documentation, and maintained that he was hired solely for aviation duties and had no involvement in any trafficking activity.
The three other American suspects remain in custody while prosecutors continue to investigate the alleged smuggling operation.
Viral Confusion Over the Aircraft
The case sparked widespread debate on social media, with many users mistakenly claiming that the aircraft seized in Paraguay was the same private jet Brown won from MrBeast.
Authorities and aviation reports have clarified that the aircraft are entirely different.
Brown’s prize from the MrBeast challenge was a Hawker 400XP executive jet, while the aircraft seized in Paraguay was a Bombardier Challenger 604.
There is currently no evidence linking MrBeast, his company, or the prize aircraft to the Paraguay investigation.
Investigation Ongoing
Paraguayan authorities continue to examine the aircraft’s travel history, ownership records, rental arrangements, and possible links to international trafficking networks operating between South America and Brazil.
Officials stress that all individuals involved are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
As investigators pursue the broader case, Brown’s release marks a dramatic twist in a story that has drawn international attention because of his unexpected rise to online fame through one of YouTube’s most popular creators.
